This type of Pesto is, indeed, a variant of the “Pesto alla Genovese”. In fact the ships coming from Genova, would dock in Trapani and the sailors would spread the recipes of their pesto. The Trapani chefs personalize the Genova’s pesto, adding almonds instead of pine seeds and enriching all with better sicilian tomatoes.
